Amber Heard’s op-ed in 2018 stated, without naming Johnny Depp, that she was a victim of domestic violence. Days after the publication of the post, Disney was said to have dropped Depp, who starred as Jack Sparrow in five of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, from the sixth movie of the famous Pirates franchise. Fans were devastated by the news and Disney was reported to replace him for the role of Jack Sparrow.

Depp sued a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard in February 2019. The court trial in Virginia began on April 11th, 2022 where Depp and Heard accused each other of physical abuse. It went on for six weeks and on May 27th, the closing arguments were made by the lawyers of both sides.

On 1st June 2022, Johnny Depp won the defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard and the jury gave its verdict. All domestic violence accusations against Depp were claimed to be false. Amber Heard was the one who had been abusing Depp and not the other way round. Not only did Depp lose the role of Jack Sparrow due to these fake accusations but also the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the Fantastic Beasts franchise.

Fans have been demanding an apology to Depp from Disney and want him back on the sets. It has been reported by various websites that Disney has offered a $301 million contract and an apology letter to get him back to the franchise. Even if Disney gave him $300 million, Johnny Depp had stated throughout the defamation trial that he would not return to the franchise. The amount offered was $1 million more. This news caused great excitement among the fans who cannot wait for Depp’s comeback.

However, it turns out that this whole news was fake and Disney has not offered such a huge sum of money to Depp. He is not returning to the Pirates franchise. At least, not anytime soon.
